Instructions for Plastics Lab Report

This will be a group lab report.  The lab report will require four (4) sections - Introduction (3 points), Results (7 points), Discussion (7 points), Questions 10 points). An additional 3 points will cover appearance, spelling and grammar. The lab report must be typed in 12 point font and all sections must be in the same font.  Clearly indicate the sections of the lab report. Use a formal, analytical style of prose. Do not use words like "got", or "thing" or contractions.  Part of your grade will be based upon the correct identification of the chemical composition of the unknown.

Introduction:. Summarize (but do not copy) what is being done in this lab exercise and state the purpose of the lab. The introduction should be at least 50 words

Results: You should start your introduction with a flow chart of how you choose the identity of each plastic (A-G).  You should follow this with a table which has your group's identification of each plastic.  Then you should have a table or a narrative of what test were done with each plastic (A-G).

Discussion: This section should contain two paragraphs.  The first paragraph should discuss your results and your conclusions and reasoning regarding how your group arrived at the identity of each unknown plastic.  There should be specific reference to results of the different tests.  The last paragraph should include a discussion of potential sources of error in your results and suggestions for improvement.  As a general guideline, each paragraph should be at least 75 words. .
